The Background of Branch Foundation

Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the China Civil Engineering Society has focused on the main battlefield of engineering construction. It has boosted scientific research, strengthened academic exchanges, cultivated scientific and technological talents, and carried out international cooperation, making important contributions to advancing scientific and technological progress in China’s engineering construction sector.

On July 10, 2023, the China Civil Engineering Society issued a notice approving the establishment of a branch under the Society, namely the Advanced Engineering Materials Branch (hereinafter referred to as the Branch), with the University of Science and Technology Beijing as its supporting institution. Professor Yue Qingrui, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, was appointed leader of the preparation team to organize the setup work of the Branch.

The Advanced Engineering Materials Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society aims to pool and integrate industrial resources for the research, development and application of advanced engineering materials. It promotes in-depth integrated development of innovation chains and industrial chains linking materials and civil engineering, facilitates research and engineering application of advanced engineering materials, integrated material-structure systems and integrated structural-functional systems, and addresses core bottlenecks restricting the R&D, popularization and application of advanced engineering materials.

At the unveiling ceremony, Yi Jun extended his congratulations on the establishment of the Advanced Engineering Materials Branch. He pointed out that the development and application of advanced engineering materials serve as one of the primary driving forces for technological advancement in civil engineering.

He expressed his hope that the Branch would forge ahead with innovation, leverage the resource strengths of the Society’s platform to carry out sustained high-level research in civil engineering materials. Through innovation and progress in engineering materials, the Branch should tackle core bottleneck technologies in civil engineering and advance technological transformation across the civil engineering industry.
